INSERT MOLDING AND OVERMOLDING SERVICES
Sometimes referred to as overmolding, the insert molding process involves combining plastic or metal components in-mold creating innovative products for structural reinforcement, functional, interior, steering, and two-shot seal applications. The overmolding process can also be used to combine soft-touch, Class A surfaces with a rigid substrate.
We also have multiple in-house services including Design & Engineering and Tooling Design & Build as well as the expertise required to assist you with your insert molding project from the concept stage to final production. Contact us today to talk about your options.
Metal Insert Molding
Through the use of metal insert molding, we can reduce the weight of structural and functional components by combining the strength of metal with the design flexibility of plastic.
Reduced post-molding operations │ The insert molding process joins several components within thermoplastic production thereby reducing the amount of post-molding operations and overall labor needed to produce your parts.
Increased part consistency | Insert molding greatly increases the consistency of parts produced as each insert is placed in the same location of the tool in every cycle. As a result, each molding produced is the same which keeps costs down as the number of rejected parts are kept to a minimum.
Ease of assembly │ Insert molding incorporates the inserted components of your part into the molding process making assembly of the final part easier. For example, instead of have to place a fitting on a part in order to attach it, a fitting can be incorporated into the part during the molding processes so finished part can simply be clipped together.
